Vuelta 2015 : our radars

2015-08-27, 12:23 - Frédéric Portoleau

The profiles of all stages are available here : http://plataformarecorridosciclistas.org/2015/01/16/la-vuelta-2015-recorrido-y-perfiles-de-los-puertos/

Here are our 4 "radars" for the Vuelta 2015 :
  • Stage 7 : La Alpujarra, friday 28th August, in Andalousia, south side of la Sierra Nevada (2 parts of 20 minutes each, with a berm), error +/- 4%
  • Stage 11 : Cortals d'Encamp, wednesday 2nd September, at the end of a 6-climbs stage, (26-28 minutes), error +/- 3%
  • Stage 15 : Sotres Cabrales, sunday 6th September (36-38 minutes), error +/- 3%
  • Stage 16 : Ermita del Alba, monday 7th September (24-26 minutes) at the end of a tough stage, error +/- 2,5%
The margin of error is for the power 78kg-standard, not the climb times. For more information, please read my study about mathematical incertitude (french).

Alto Campoo, stage 14, not enough slope (5-6%, except in the last 2 km with 9%) and a road exposed to the wind.

A short climb to watch : stage 9, Cumbre del Sol, (12 minutes - error +/- 2,5%) sunday 30th August, longer and more stiff than Mende.

Two other long and sloping climbs during stages : La Gallinna, stage 11 and la Cobertoria stage 16.

I think la Gallinna will be part of the next Tour de France, during the stage at Andorre. It's similar to Joux-Plane climb (Haute-Savoie).
